I was born in Inverness, Scotland but became a travelling expat at the age of 4. Since then I have lived in countries all over the world. I went to boarding school at a young age and completed my degree in Cheltenham, England.
After a brief taste of teaching in London I knew I wanted to return to the United Arab Emirates. Since then I have been fortunate to work and gain experience teaching and leading in all year groups in primary. This breadth of experience especially in leadership over the past 16 years has led me to develop a strong belief that children learn best when they are having fun and are engaged in practical and challenging activities.
I also believe that strong relationships with parents and the wider community are vital for ensuring that children are supported as they move through their school life. I am delighted to be working together with students, staff, parents and governors and everyone else involved in Smart Vision School ensuring our children’s success, achievement and well-being.
Out of school, my two teenage boys are in boarding school in Scotland. As a family we are passionate about travel and experiencing new cultures around the world. I look forward to seeing you in school and working with your children at SVS.
I am delighted and proud to be the Head of Early Years at such a fun, inclusive and vibrant school. I believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Every child is unique and is born with the ability to develop if they are given the chance during childhood.
I passionately believe children learn best through play, Play is the means through which children find stimulation, well-being, and happiness. It is the utmost importance for us to offer children a safe, enabling and fun environment for them to learn as well as build relationships.
Their growth physically, intellectually and emotionally and their general wellbeing is at the heart of the school’s focus. Our learning environment is well suited to meeting children’s needs for all types of play, building upon first-hand experiences as much as possible. I look forward to working in partnership with our staff and parents to offer the children the best learning experience possible throughout the Early Years.
I am delighted to be part of the leadership team at SVS as Head of Primary. Our school is small and welcoming and has a wonderful community feel. Therefore, we can nurture and care for every individual child allowing them to reach their full potential.
We believe in the importance of building a community that brings together students, teachers and parents to create respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. We want to ensure all our children believe in themselves and always aspire to be the best they can be. This will foster an environment for them to want to learn so they can go on to achieve their dreams and goals.
Please feel that you can reach out to me at any time with any questions or queries that you might have regarding your child or if you require information on certain areas of the curriculum.
I look forward to welcoming you to a new academic year and working closely with you and your children.
As a parent and sister of students of determination I have a clear connection to the value of inclusion and the barriers to learning and acceptance within society.
For the last 14 years I have retrained and commenced my academic journey into the area of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). During that time I have completed educational courses in most areas of SEND and I am passionate that children with SEND should enjoy school, receive the necessary support to enable this to happen and to ultimately become independent learners able to participate within their classes.
I believe parents should feel that they have access to support and resources that they need to help their children and be totally involved in their education and welcome this teamwork approach.
I am delighted to be the Head of Inclusion at Smart Vision School which exemplifies, inclusion and difference within a wonderfully supportive community school.
