At one of the best Secondary Schools in Dubai, students benefit from a forward-thinking curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England. From August 2026, with the introduction of Year 9, SVS will offer a complete Key Stage 3 journey.
Students adopt increasingly more independence while studying the following subjects, guided by specialist teachers:
Embracing UAE's national language Students continue with an Arabic language programme that is strictly aligned with the Ministry of Education (MOE) standards and the UAE National Agenda. Arabic (A) is designed for native speakers, focusing on deep linguistic foundation, including grammar (Nahw), classical and modern literature, and eloquent creative writing. Arabic (B) provides non-native speakers with essential communication skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) to interact confidently in a local context. Both pathways emphasise critical thinking and textual analysis as essential tools for academic excellence and cultural fluency.
Exploring cultural heritage Learners foster a moderate and more comprehensive understanding of faith through the Islamic Studies curriculum, following the Ministry’s National Document. Islamic Studies (A) is conducted in Arabic, while Islamic Studies (B) is taught in English for non-Arabic speakers. Both programmes delve deeply into the Holy Quran and its interpretation (Tafseer), Islamic values and ethics, worship (Ibadat), the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islamic rulings. Students build a strong religious identity balanced with the values of tolerance and civic responsibility.
Understanding the United Arab Emirates By continuing Social Studies, students explore the UAE’s national identity and heritage through the MOE framework. They study the history of the Emirates, the legacy of the founding fathers and the country’s geographic and political landscape. The curriculum fosters national pride and helps learners understand their role in the nation’s ongoing development. By examining the UAE's strategic role globally, students develop a sense of belonging and an appreciation for the country's social and economic achievements.
Growing with integrity and ethics Students cultivate character and ethical resilience with the standalone Moral Education curriculum. They focus on universal values such as fairness, respect and empathy, alongside a deep understanding of community wellbeing. By exploring its diverse pillars, learners are encouraged to become responsible global citizens who are respectful of local traditions. The programme empowers them to engage in meaningful dialogue about ethics and human rights, preparing them for the challenges of a globalized world.

Student progress in our Middle School in Dubai is measured through a balanced approach that recognises both academic achievement and personal growth. Formative and summative assessments provide clear insight into students’ understanding and attainment, while project work, presentations and extracurricular activities offer opportunities to demonstrate creativity, teamwork and leadership. Progress is celebrated through awards, assemblies, certificates and student showcases, helping students build confidence, resilience and a lasting love of learning while guiding their next steps for future success.
The ISP Life Competencies framework helps students develop the knowledge, attitudes and behaviours they need to thrive in school and beyond. Through the Big 5 competencies - cognitive, global, self-leadership, interpersonal and digital - students become well-rounded and resilient individuals. Rooted in the SVS core values of Excite, Engage and Empower, students nurture their interests, laying strong foundations for the subjects and pathways they may choose at IGCSE and in the future. They are also encouraged to lead by example within the school community, taking on increasing responsibility through leadership opportunities, supporting younger students and participating in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Karam Award.
In English, the Key Stage 3 curriculum builds reading, writing and oracy through a carefully sequenced study of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and Shakespeare, strengthening creativity, analysis and critical thinking. In Arabic, differentiated pathways ensure both native and non-native speakers make meaningful progress in line with the MOE curriculum, deepening fluency through advanced language and literature and building confidence through practical communication and essential language skills.
As part of ISP, students benefit from a wide range of international opportunities that broaden their horizons. Through International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS), they can take part in global collaboration, competition and cultural exchange, exploring science, art, filmmaking, chess or new cultures and traditions. Learners can also participate in the full Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, engaging in more challenging activities across volunteering, physical pursuits, skills development, and adventurous expeditions. At Gold level, they take part in a residential experience, which helps them develop independence, leadership and resilience.
